Amery runs his own teaching outfit, where he aims to enable students to be self-sufficient in learning abilities.
A practitioner of the Alexander technique, Amery also emphasises that playing the piano should be a natural extension of a person’s functional motor skills, with no added twists, turns or uncomfortable postures so as to avoid potential injury.
While Amery is predominantly classically trained, his strength lies in his ability to impart the fundamentals through non-traditional methods, by ways of desired song choices from early on, in order to retain and nurture musical interests.
